Queer Fishes, those North Americans

By  Counter Balance

North Americans are not able to handle with sexuality, especially not if it concerns children or teenagers.
A pick out of the news items.

We don't mention the many reports telling about parents who have made photos of their child in the tube or on the beach, and who were accused of making child porn, this committing sexual abuse. Professor James R. Kincaid writes about these cases.

North Americans cannot accept a child's nudeness. It seems that children are born there with jeans.
But nearly everybody has a rifle.

Raoul

Raoul, a Swish boy, was eleven. He had helped his younger sister making water. A neighbor woman saw this and called the police. Raoul was incarcerated for months, questioned for hours and accused of incest. This could lead to long imprisonment.
Thanks to his Swish passport and world-wide protests, the family could escape to Switzerland.

A two-year-old offender

A two-year-old girl ran naked into the garden, trying to catch the cat. Her brother sent her quickly inside the home again. It was only a few seconds, but this is exhibitionism.
The same day, 'social' workers claimed access to the house to question the other children of the family. The parents refused - that is: they 'refused cooperation in a case of child sexual abuse', which is a crime.
The court declared that it had been quite worse if the toddler had been running on the street, the public domain, instead of in the garden, a private domain.

A small town thrown into confusion

York haven, Pa., was thrown into confusion when was discovered that 17 children between 7 and 16 year old had 'played sex' in the woods. The youngest children did not understand what happened and couldn't give clear statements. The older children said they had done this voluntary and with pleasure; they didn't see any wrong in it.
For the adults, the main question was: "Who was the offender, who the victim?" The combinations had changed frequently.
This is the way of thinking of adults, and this way of thinking caused a problem. The offender has to be dealt with severely in an offenders' clinic; the victims had to get a more mild treatment in another clinic.

Kissing as a crime

A fifteen-year-old girl kissed her teacher on his lips. The latter does not prevent this; this kind of kissing was quite normal. The teacher was convicted and had to receive three years of imprisoned treatment. The girl also has to receive treatment because she doesn't see any wrong in the kissing. For the court, she declares she loves her teacher; she cries. Thus, the court concluded she was 'mentally distorted'.

a nine-year-old boy kisses a five-year-old girl on her breast. This is an indecent act. Also the parents were accused, because the court supposed that they had taught the boy to kiss that way. Of course, no nine-year-old boy should ever do so unless taught.

Providing safe sex is a crime

A 33-year-old mother in Baraboo, Wisconsin, discovered that her 15-year-old son had sex. She gave him condoms and talked with him about safe sex. This is a crime, which can cause the mother 15 years in prison and a  fee of $ 10,000. It is a crime because she has not prevented sexual abuse by her son.

Draconian

A 19-year old male, a model student from a model family, has been convicted to 37 year in prison, to follow by 35 year of control and the ban to ever use a computer. According to the law, the conviction could be 95 year. This because of 'molesting' or showing pornography to some 13-year-old boys. It is forbidden to show any sexual activity to any child. This is seen as 'molest'.

Culture

We have limited ourselves to a few summaries of news items from the U.S. during a limited period of time. There are much more stories, also from Canada, Great-Britain, Australia and New Zealand - all Anglo-Saxon countries.
It is this Anglo-Saxon culture that cannot handle with sex, especially not if it concernd children or teenagers.
